JAMIE LEW (Ph.D. Teachers College, Columbia University) is Assistant
Professor in the Department of Urban Education at Rutgers-Newark. Her
research interests include race and ethnic relations, urban education
and policy, immigration and international migration, and comparative and
international education. She is particularly interested in issues of
minority children and children of immigrants in urban schools. She is
the author of Class Act: Structuring academic success and failure of
Asian American youths in urban schools (forthcoming, Teachers College
Press), and is currently conducting research on how social class, race
and ethnic relations, and immigrant networks affect educational
aspirations and attainment among children of Asian immigrants in New
York and New Jersey urban schools. Dr. Lew teaches Issues in Urban
Education and Topics in Education.
